Heritage Russian Jewish Congragation – 2855 Touhy
Description
Though my roles and responsibilities changed during the project, my dedication to seeing it through never wavered. Originally hired as an Owner’s Rep to oversee the construction of the synagogue, I completed the project as the Construction Manager. I was brought on board just after execution of the construction contract.
For the first 12 months of the project’s life, I oversaw the general contractor and architect while working with the client to fulfill their goal of designing a modern Orthodox facility for their growing congregation. As the scope evolved, it became clear that the delivery of the project would be best handled more internally between myself and the rabbi.
From that point, I took over the building construction operations and began to meticulously work through the details of designing a beautiful interior. We constructed a curved stair with ornate railing and marble steps. The floors were meticulously laid out in a ceramic tile pattern. We worked closely with our millworker to design and construct the unique synagogue elements. Numerous ceilings were filled with unique acoustic sound panels. We constructed a classic coffer-style ceiling in the main sanctuary and delivered a fully functional commercial kitchen with a hood and appliances.
While working on the project, I immersed myself in the community and enjoyed every moment I could spending with them and seeing their dream come true of having a new synagogue next door to the one they started 25 years ago. It was a pleasure working with the rabbi and his congregants, and I cherish the relationship I’ve developed with them.
